Learning from others

Good morning,

She decided students make a comic using personal anecdotes and designing with Pixton. I selected this activity because I considered essential as teachers implement meaningful activities for children. Celia’s activity is contextualised and I am totally convinced that her pupils enjoyed it.

Children had to be able to narrate a personal anecdote using a comic. During the task, the teacher was monitoring and giving feedback. Students worked individually because the final task was individual, but previously they were working in pairs and small groups as follows: they were given a card and had to tell an anecdote related to the topic of the card ( a trip, a famous person, an injury..).The rest of students in the group had to guess if the anecdote was real or imagined and made suggestions to improve it.

Later, they had to complete the story. At the end, the teacher showed the comics and the rest of the class assessed and gave feedback.

I think I could use Pixton with my class, but I would work in groups from the beginning because it’s more motivating for them. I liked the way Celia has implemented the activity and even my students are younger I think I can adapt the activity for them.
