I love reading. I love reading since I was a child. I think the more you read the better your speech will be. This aspect is not very well known by people and it is really really important nowadays.
As a journalist and as a teacher I make a lot
of emphasis in this question to my students. They have to read not only to
enjoy and improve their reading competency but also to enhance their discourse techniques.
I
usually read on paper and online and I read in my free time, but also when I travel. In my opinion,
books' selection is very influenced by advertisement, media and social network
and sometimes, we do not notice the reason why select a book if we do not
reflect on it. I reckon people have good sensations when they decide what to
choose, what to read, where to read, when to read... Reading is about having
good feelings and dreaming, because you can experiment new experiences and
situations when you do it.
I
would like to focus in the granny and girl's picture. This photograph remembers me
when I was a child and I used to read at home with my dad. Everyone at home
used to read. I even remember reading with my English teacher and I cannot
forget the first readings in English when I was at school. I have them at home.
I
enjoy reading texts about teaching in English related to classroom management and
pupils’ behaviour, above all. In Spanish I prefer reading novels and spiritual
books. I read the last ones in both languages because I love them and I follow foreign
writers.
I also love reading for pleasure, and I think it is also a great tool to learn a foreign language. We should put more emphasis on encouraging our students to read, both in English and in Spanish, and letting them choose what they want to read.
